Manager, Cataloging Services
Manage the day-to-day activities of the RAND Library Cataloging Department
as well as take part in several content management projects such as the
development of a corporate taxonomy, and the organization of digitized
research materials. Supervising of the Cataloging Department entails: 
*	oversight of a staff of four FTE para-professional catalogers; 
*	answering day-to-day cataloging questions, providing guidance and
training, checking work; and writing annual performance evaluations.
Complex original cataloging of a variety of formats--including electronic
resources--as needed; must keep current with cataloging developments; act as
liaison with OCLC and RLIN, write and implement relevant policies and
determine project priorities.
Special note: U.S. citizenship is required. 
Educational requirements: MLS from an ALA-accredited university or
equivalent background and experience.
Specific technical skills required: Cataloging experience in a research or
academic setting using an integrated online catalog. Familiarity with AACR2,
MARC, LCSH and LC Classification. Must have supervisory experience.
Related experience required: 3-5 years.
Type of experience required/preferred: Must have ability to work as a team
member; handle multiple tasks and projects; interest and/or experience in
organization-wide content management; and strong oral and written and
communication skills.
