LEADERSHIP SKILLS FOR THE ELECTRONIC AGE
In today's fast-paced, increasingly complex environment, information users
face a daunting range of options and opportunities. Knowledgeable and
skilled information professionals can help users make most effective use of
their time in seeking and using needed information. Information

communities to ensure that scarce resources are optimized. This presentation
will address leadership issues and skills in increasing demand in the
evolving electronic information domain.
We invite members, friends and students from ASIST and SLA chapters in Ohio,
Michigan, Indiana, and Pittsburgh to join us for the lecture by José-Marie

ABOUT THE GEORGE MANDEL LECTURE
The annual George Mandel lecture honors the memory of George Mandel, a
member of
the aerospace industry library community for 30 years. George served many
years in the Special Libraries Association Cleveland Chapter in many roles.
He continued to offer professional guidance to chapter members throughout
his career. George had a keen feeling for professionalism and continuing
education in the library world.
At the time of his death in 1989, George Mandel was the chief of the
Technical Information Services Division at the NASA Lewis Research Center,
now Glenn Research Center. He also served as chairman of the SLA Aerospace
Division in 1977-78 and, as a project chair, was also the driving force
behind the compilation and publishing of the NASA N Numbers to DoD AD
Numbers.
