POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

In response to the continuing growth of its master's program in Library
and Information Science, the School of Library and Information Science at
the University of South Florida is pleased to announce three position
vacancies. The University of South Florida is a metropolitan-based
research university that serves the greater Tampa Bay area which today
has a population of over 2.5 million.  The University's diverse student
body now numbers over 37,000 including about 10,000 students enrolled in
post baccalaureate programs which include professional programs in
Business, Engineering, Medicine, Nursing and Public health as well as post
graduate programs in Education, the Fine Arts, and Arts and Sciences.

The School of Library and Information Science seeks enthusiastic new
faculty to join a program characterized by a collegial and innovative
teaching environment as well as opportunities for research and
professional development.

Current position vacancies are:
Tenure Track Positions
Assistant Professor        min. salary $48,000 for the academic year
Associate Professor        min. salary $62,000 for the academic year

Rank and salary are commensurate with experience.  Appointment to a tenure
track position requires that the candidate hold an earned doctorate in
library/information science or a related field.
Required: (1) An earned doctorate in library/information science or a
related field (ABDs will be considered for the Assistant Professor
position but will be initially appointed as instructor); (2) expertise in
one or more of the following: organization of information, information
sources and services (especially science/technology), database
construction and management, human-computer interaction, information
architecture, information systems analysis and design, knowledge discovery
in databases (KDD); (3) teaching experience at the post-secondary
level; (4) evidence of research and publications.
Preferred: Master's degree in Library/Information Science from an
ALA-accredited institution; experience with distance education,
particularly web-delivered instruction.

Non Tenure Track Position
Instructor/Associate Director:    min. salary $42,000 for twelve months
Required:              Master's degree in Library and Information
Science; previous teaching experience; experience with distance education,
particularly web-delivered instruction; experience in academic advising,
recruitment and admission in higher education.
Preferred:    Administrative experience in academic environment.
