Title: From Human Information Behavior to the Design of Ecological
Information Systems
Abstract:
A persisting question in information science is how to apply our knowledge
of human information behavior to the design of information systems. While
these two areas are separated from one another, one conceptual framework,
Cognitive Work Analysis, bridges this gap. Because the approach is based
on the assumption that information systems should be integrated into the
life of their users (rather than requiring that users adapt to them), the
result is the design of ecological information systems.
