Greetings all:

The "Music Information Retrieval/Music Digital Library Evaluation
Project White Paper Collection, Edition #1" is now availabe at:

http://music-ir.org/evaluation/wp1/

This first collection (in a planned series of three editions of
evaluation White Papers) comes from the recently concluded "Workshop on
the Creation of Standardized Test Collections, Tasks, and Metrics for
Music Information Retrieval (MIR) and Music Digital Library (MDL)
Evaluation", held 18 July 2002 in Portland Oregon at the ACM/IEEE Joint
Conference on Digital Libraries 2002.

The following two entries provide important background information
concerning the motives, goals and timetable of the project:

http://music-ir.org/evaluation/wp1/wp1_downie_proposal.pdf

Dr. Ellen Voorhees' excellent keynote paper served as the starting point
for discussions:

I will be making a formal "call for submissions" announcement soon
asking for another set of White Paper contributions to be compiled in
time for the ISMIR 2002 meeting (International Conference on Music
Information Retrieval) to be held at IRCAM, Paris, 13-17 October 2002.
See the following for

I would like to thank the Mellon Foundation for its support of this

I hope this message finds each of you well.

Cheers,
Stephen

Please forward as you see fit.
